Kiwi Fruit Benefits of Antioxidants

In “SuperFoods RX,” medical dietitian Steven Pratt identifies nuts and berries as two of the 14 healthiest foods to include in your diet. Nuts are good sources of protein, monounsaturated fats, vitamin E, fiber and folate. Berries contain powerful antioxidants, fiber and vitamin C. Incorporating nuts and berries in a balanced diet offers many nutritional benefits.
Benefits of Fats

Most of the fats in nuts are monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats. Dr. Jonny Bowden associates these healthy fats with lower risks of developing heart disease, high cholesterol and cancer. Nuts are excellent sources of omega-3 fatty acids. According to Steven Pratt, omega-3s help blood flow freely and prevents clots from forming within arteries. For this reason, the fatty acids in nuts promote a healthy heart and improved circulation.

Apples are one of the healthiest fruits you can eat.

asian food1 Apples are one of the healthiest fruits you can eat.

Apples

Yes, an apple a day might really be able to keep the doctor away. And that’s why they earned a place in the 10 Best Foods to Eat Hall-of-Fame.Apples Consistently Rank In Lists for Best Foods To Eat

High in fiber — especially soluble fiber and fruit pectins — and also high in antioxidants, vitamins and trace minerals, apples are a great daily addition to a healthy, clean eating diet. And because they are portable, they make a great, easy-to-transport snack.

Research indicates that regular apple consumption may help reduce the risk of colon cancer, prostate cancer and lung cancer. They also contain phytochemicals such as quercetin, epicatechin, and procyanidin B2.

Even better, they are relatively low in sugar, calories and contain no fat or cholesterol.  While apples are great whole, don’t forget that they make an excellent, crispy addition to salads or your morning oatmeal, cold cereal or muesli.
Berries

Berries like raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, cranberries and strawberries all make the 10 Best Foods Mixed Berries in a Basket: Berries Are High In Vitamins and AntioxidantsTo Eat list because like apples and cruciferous vegetables, they are all extremely high in antioxidants, low in fat, and are good sources of fiber.

Berries are also relatively low in sugars compared to other fruits like bananas, which make them ideal for people who prefer to keep their carbohydrate intake lower.

They also freeze very well, making them a great “fresh” frozen fruit to keep on hand in the freezer to throw into smoothies or on your cereal or oatmeal in the morning.

Healthy slices of smoked salmon green salad

No Fat Caesar Salad Healthy slices of smoked salmon green salad

Ingredients for each portion:
5 slices of smoked salmon,
1/2 mango,
blueberries,
10 gr. brown sugar,
pomegranate,
dragon fruit,
1/2 lime.

Recipe: Caramelized Salmon Fruit Salad is a very easy and elegant recipe, which can be prepared in just a few minutes. This is one of my original ideas for a stunning gourmet appetizer, suitable for any kind of party or event. The fruits and the sweetness of the caramelized smoked salmon, drizzled with lime juice, compliment each other extremely well, and the taste is really amazing. Roll 4 or 5 slices of smoked salmon for each person in the way you see in the picture, arrange in a baking pan over parchment paper, sprinkle with sugar and broil in a preheated oven until caramelized. Serve over spring salad and sprinkle with berries and other fruits of your choice. You can use sesame ginger dressing for the fruits. I served the caramelized salmon rolls for this photo over a slice of dragon fruit, with a delicate mango cage, blueberries, pomegranate, dragon fruit scoops and lime, however you can choose your own combination of fruits.
